Like a green ribbon the Inn passes by Oberaudorf. It's long path from the Swiss Maloja Pass through the Alps ends here.
Now it flows gently through the Alpine foothills to the Danube confluence in Passau. Its green colour comes from the minerals of the chalk rocks which reflect the sunlight in colour.
The cycle and walking paths accompany the Inn dam through dreamy meadowlands. Until Erl, the passion play locality, the German-Austrian border is in the middle of the river.
The bike and footbridge between Niederaudorf and Erl offers a picturesque view of the Kaiser mountains.
The lakes in Oberaudorf are the remainder of a sea basin the size of Lake Constance, which once extended from Kiefersfelden to Wasserburg.
